1. Why do I get travel insurance with my Shoppers Optimum® Card?
Thanks to an agreement with Desjardins Financial Security Life Assurance Company, all Shoppers Optimum Members are eligible for complimentary travel insurance for trips of three days or less outside their province of residence.

2. What does Travel Insurance cover?
Desjardins Financial Security's 3-Day Travel Insurance will provide you, your spouse and your dependent children travelling with you with comprehensive coverage that includes:
- Emergency Health Care coverage
- Accident coverage
- Trip cancellation coverage
- Baggage coverage
Plus, you are automatically eligible for Desjardins Financial Security's 24/7 Travel Assistance Service free of charge.

3. How many trips a year does Travel Insurance cover?
Travel Insurance covers all trips of three days or less taken outside your province of residence or abroad.

4. Are my spouse and dependent children covered?
Yes. As a Shoppers Optimum member, you, your spouse and your dependent children travelling with you are protected under Desjardins Financial Security 3-Day Travel Insurance coverage.

5. If my trip lasts more than three days and I haven't extended my coverage, will I still be covered if I become sick on the second day of my trip?
NO. Desjardins Financial Security offers you three days of travel insurance free of charge provided you are covered for the entire duration of the trip. If you are going to be away longer than three days, you must extend your coverage.
6. Can I extend my Travel insurance coverage with an insurer other than Desjardins Financial Security?
NO. If you become ill or have an accident within the first three days of your trip, the other insurer might consider the illness or accident a pre-existing injury or medical condition and deny your claim.

7. What should I do if my trip is going to last longer than three days?
If your trip is going to last longer than three days, extend your travel insurance and pay only for the additional days of coverage for the entire duration of your trip. See "3-Day Travel Insurance" page.

8. What does the Travel Assistance Service include? Our Travel Assistance Service is there for you while you are travelling. No matter where you are, our team of professionals will answer your call, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It includes:
- Medical assistance: If you require hospitalization, we make the necessary arrangements or take care of your repatriation if required.
- Administrative assistance: If your wallet is lost or stolen, we can help you get a temporary ID or transfer money into an account abroad.
- Legal assistance: If you experience legal problems while travelling in a foreign country, we put you in touch with a lawyer who can inform you of your rights.
- Information for international travellers: Before you leave, call us to get information about any vaccinations required in foreign countries or the precautionary measures recommended when travelling to a tropical country.

10. Do I really have to read the entire policy? Yes. The insurance policy contains everything you need to know about the coverages Desjardins Financial Security offers you. We also recommend that you carefully read the tables of restrictions, exclusions and limitations regarding pre-existing illnesses and injuries to determine whether your state of health could limit your eligibility for certain benefits.
